The 2010 Harvest was one for the ages. The growing season was one with limited summer and lacked the heat necessary to follow a path of normal development which shifted the harvest to mid November. Stag’s Ridge was picked in three picks, starting November 9, 2010. On November 16, 2010 the perfect break in weather came from “The God of Wine.”

 

The extra hang time on the grapes gave them what they needed to develop the sugars and, most importantly, the taste that only our Stags Ridge Vineyard can give. When you roll the dice, sometimes you come out lucky. We took a huge chance on loosing the majority of our crop by waiting but we refuse to pick grapes that won’t make great wine.
